A close-up shows a face, hands or a small object large in frame. On a storyboard, write why the CU exists — logo, emotion, insert — not just the letters CU.

A **close-up (CU)** fills the frame with a face, hands, or a small object. An **ECU** goes closer (eyes, a logo cut-off, a droplet). On a board, “CU” without intention is how you get a close-up of the wrong thing.

Say “CU — product name must read” or “CU — reaction, no mouth dialogue.” [Shot size](/glossary/shot-size) · [insert](/glossary/insert).
