# Wide shot

A wide shot shows the geography of a scene: who is where, what the set is. Board it as an establish and as a possible recut master, not as decoration.

A **wide shot (WS)** shows geography: bodies in space, the room, the street. An **EWS** is wider still (landscape, establishing). On a storyboard the wide is often both “pretty establish” and the master you will recut if coverage fails. Draw it so an editor could live in it.
