A shot list in a spreadsheet is a second copy of the storyboard. By day three they disagree. Shot list software worth using is a **view** of the same frames, not a parallel file.

## Sort for the AD, play for the director

Story order is for the animatic. Setup order is for the shoot. You need both from one dataset. Export CSV and sort; do not retype.

### Can I import an existing shot list?

Paste or import CSV, then attach frames. Better: start from the script so codes and scenes already match.

### Is a shot list enough without pictures?

On a locked dialogue scene, sometimes. On anything with geography or a client, no. Keep the [storyboard](/storyboard-software) and the list together.
