Turning a script into sixteen frames is now a commodity. Several tools, including Storyboarder.ai and the first-pass tools inside production apps, will do it in a minute. That is not the expensive part of pre-production.
What generators are actually good at
If your job is “show the client something by 4pm,” a generator is a legitimate first pass. The first-pass workflow still applies: low fidelity, then human geometry.

What they get wrong, reliably
Continuity. The same actor changes jacket, age and handedness across a sequence. Without a locked element library, every frame is a new roll of the dice.
Eyelines and screen direction. Models do not hold the 180-degree line. Coverage that cannot cut together is not coverage.
Shot data. A pretty frame with no lens, movement or duration cannot become a shot list. Crews do not shoot drawings; they shoot lists.
Revision. “Make frame 7 tighter and the product bigger” is the real job. A generator that rebuilds the whole sequence to change one panel is a cost centre.
Rights. Training data, logos, celebrity lookalikes and trademarked packs show up without being asked. Anything that leaves the building needs a human pass. See CineoBoard’s content policy.
A split of labour that works

Is there a good AI storyboard generator for film?
There are fast ones. There is not one that replaces a board that has to survive a client, a DoP and a legal review. Use generation for speed to first pass. Keep the record in software you can edit.
Will AI replace storyboard artists?
It replaces blank-page time. It does not replace continuity, camera grammar, or the person who says the pack shot is illegal. Those are still the job.
