Open CineoBoard Storyboard Creator and begin arranging a six-cell board before creating an account. There is no app to install, no card form and no prompt that blocks the canvas. Start with a free filled 6-shot board, or start with a blank board.
What you can do before signing up
Your first useful test should happen in the editor, not in an account form. Build one real scene and decide whether the art, controls and shot fields fit your project.
- Add illustrated scenes, characters, objects, speech bubbles and shapes from the free starter library
- Move, resize, rotate, flip and layer objects; crop and zoom scene backgrounds
- Add titles, action captions and shot sizes such as WS, MS, CU, OTS and POV
- Duplicate and reorder cells while building a sequence of up to six shots
- Use the editor in a current browser on phone, iPad or desktop
When an account is required
You need to sign in when you want to save the board to the cloud, open it on another device, create a read-only share link or download PNG, PDF or editable JSON. Free visual downloads include a CineoBoard watermark. The sign-in boundary is shown before those actions, so you can evaluate the editing workflow first.
| Task | Account needed? | Paid plan needed? |

Make a useful six-shot test
Six cells are enough to test an establishing shot, two pieces of action, two reactions and a final detail. That produces evidence you can compare with another storyboard tool instead of judging from a feature list.
- Set the location with an illustrated scene.
- Add a character and prop to establish the action.
- Duplicate the cell so the cast and location remain consistent.
- Turn the duplicate into a medium shot, close-up, reverse or insert.
- Write one action sentence and choose a shot size for each cell.
- Review the sequence at phone and desktop widths before deciding whether to save it.
What Full Creator adds
Full Creator is for a board that outgrows the free test. It raises the limit to 100 cells, unlocks the complete current illustrated library, enables image upload, and removes the watermark from high-resolution visual exports.
The introductory price is $4.99 for the first 30 days, then $11.99/month. You can cancel anytime. Review the exact free and paid limits on Storyboard Creator pricing, or open the upgrade offer.
Free start versus full Creator
Paying should solve a visible limit in a board you already made. If the free six-cell sequence does not fit your workflow, do not subscribe just to keep testing.
| Choose the free start when… | Choose Full Creator when… |
|---|---|
| You want to test the editor with one short scene | The board needs seven or more cells |
| Starter scenes and characters cover the idea | You need the complete current asset library |
| A marked preview is enough for evaluation | The file is going to a client, crew or class |
| You do not need to upload a specific location or product | You need to place your own approved images |
FAQ
Can I make a storyboard without creating an account?
Yes. You can open Creator and build a board of up to six cells with starter assets before signing up. Sign-in is required for cloud saving, cross-device access, sharing and downloads.
Is the free storyboard maker really free?
The six-cell starter workflow does not require a card. Free visual downloads require sign-in and include a CineoBoard watermark. More cells, the full library, image upload and unwatermarked high-resolution exports require Full Creator.
Can I use it on an iPad or phone without signing up?
Yes. The same free editor opens in a current mobile or tablet browser. Phone portrait, phone landscape, iPad and desktop expose the library, canvas and object controls.
Do I have to subscribe after I sign in?
No. Signing in lets you use the free cloud and download workflow. Full Creator is a separate paid upgrade for higher limits, the complete current library, image upload and unwatermarked high-resolution exports.
