This lesson teaches plot structure by having students map a story onto a five-panel storyboard. Each panel represents one beat of the arc: exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, resolution.

Lesson steps
1. Introduce the arc (5 min)
Draw the arc on the board:

Name each beat. Give a quick example students know (a movie, a meme, a sports play).
2. Read or re-read the story (10 min)
Read the story aloud or re-read a chapter. After each section, ask: which beat are we in?
3. Board the arc (15 min)
Open Storyboard Creator. Pick the Timeline or Classic layout. Label the five cells:
Students draw or drop library characters into each cell. Add a caption below each panel.

4. Share and compare (10 min)
Pairs compare boards. Discuss: did you put the climax in the same place? Why or why not?
Differentiation
- Fewer panels: Use a three-panel BME (beginning, middle, end) layout for younger students
- More panels: Add two rising-action panels for older students
- No drawing: Use library characters and scenes, or just write captions
