A storyboard idea rarely waits until you are back at a desk. CineoBoard Storyboard Creator runs in a browser on phone, iPad and desktop, with the same board saved to your account after you sign in. Start a six-cell board free, without entering a card: open Storyboard Creator.
What works on each screen
The board is responsive rather than a separate mobile viewer. You can add and move objects, resize or rotate them, edit titles and captions, change shot size, reorder cells and reach the same download menu from a touch screen.
| Device | Best use | Editor access |
|---|---|---|
| Phone portrait | Block a short scene, replace art, edit captions | Library, canvas and object controls remain reachable in stacked panels |
| Phone landscape | Arrange objects with a wider canvas | Canvas and properties sit side by side |
| iPad | Build and revise a complete board by touch | Larger canvas, library search, layout and export controls |
| Laptop or desktop | Long boards and precise placement | Full three-column editing workspace |
Make a storyboard on your phone
There is no app-store install. A current browser and JavaScript are required. On a very small phone, landscape gives object editing more room; portrait is useful for replacing art and writing captions.
- Open Storyboard Creator in Safari, Chrome or another current browser.
- Tap a scene to set the location, then add characters, items or speech bubbles.
- Select an object to move, rotate, flip, resize, recolor or change its layer.
- Add a title, action caption and shot size to each cell.
- Sign in when you want cloud saving, a share link or a PNG, PDF or JSON download.
Touch controls that do not hide the canvas
Desktop editors often shrink their right-hand controls until they are unusable on an iPad. CineoBoard moves object properties into a scrollable touch panel and keeps move and rotate handles inside the visible workspace. Primary touch targets are sized for fingers, and download menus stay inside the viewport in portrait and landscape.
That matters when you are fixing a board during a location scout, in transit or beside a client. A phone is still less precise than a mouse, but it can complete the workflow rather than only display the finished board.
Free mobile storyboard vs full Creator
The free editor includes up to six cells and a limited set of assets from each category. Free PNG and PDF downloads carry a CineoBoard mark. The full Creator unlocks the complete illustrated library, premium layouts, image upload, up to 100 cells and high-resolution exports without the watermark.
Full Creator is $4.99 for the first 30 days, then $11.99/month. Cancel anytime. Open the upgrade offer.
Mobile storyboard tools compared
Some online storyboard products render on a phone but recommend a computer for creation. Storyboard That’s own device guidance says phone creation is not recommended. CineoBoard’s mobile layout is designed so the library, canvas, properties and export controls remain available on phone, iPad and desktop.
If your priority is a much larger education library, classroom management or deeply configurable clip-art characters, compare the products honestly at CineoBoard vs Storyboard That. If your priority is finishing the same short visual board across devices, start in Creator.
FAQ
Can I make a storyboard on an iPhone or Android phone?
Yes. Open Creator in a current mobile browser. Portrait and landscape both expose the editing controls; landscape provides a wider canvas for object placement.
Does the iPad version need a keyboard?
No. The editor is touch operable. A hardware keyboard can make long captions faster, but it is not required to reach object, layout or export controls.
Can I export a storyboard from my phone?
Yes after signing in. Creator downloads PNG, PDF and JSON. Free visual exports include a CineoBoard mark; a paid Creator subscription removes it and enables high-resolution output.
