A template is not a tool
Canva offers storyboard templates — rectangular grids you can fill with text and images. They look like storyboards. But a template has no notion of a shot size, a lens, a duration or a camera movement. It is a picture of a board, not a board.
CineoBoard treats every frame as a production record: the drawing carries the shot data, the data drives the shot list, and the shot list drives the animatic and the export. Change one frame and the list, the timing and the PDF follow.
Design assets vs production elements
Canva's library is enormous — photos, illustrations, icons, fonts. It is designed for visual variety, not visual consistency. A character in frame 3 will not match the same character in frame 12 unless you manually find and place the same asset.
CineoBoard's element library saves a character, prop or location once and reuses it identically across every frame. The board stays consistent by construction, not by effort.
When Canva is the right call
If the deliverable is a pitch deck, a social post or a marketing one-pager, Canva is the faster tool. It has thousands of templates, a huge asset library and a collaboration model built for design teams.
CineoBoard is not trying to replace Canva for general design. It is trying to replace the storyboard template you downloaded from Canva and outgrew in ten minutes.
